What do lines, shapes, proportions and patterns reveal about the world? “Tierra” binds the abstraction of the detail with the whole- a drop of water or a magnificent rock formation, an ocean or a twig-all shaping the complex natural world surrounding us.
The images printed on vellum paper achieve transparency, and the shagged frames used for the individual images represent the fragility of each environment. By finally hand painting the images with encaustic media, they recover the organic element, the shine and protection offered by combining bees wax and dammar.
